OREANDA-NEWS Russia aims to develop bilateral cooperation with Afghanistan in various fields, Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu said at a meeting with Afghan Deputy Prime Minister Mohammad Abdul Kabir.

"We are aimed at developing bilateral cooperation between Russia and Afghanistan in all areas. I confirm my readiness to build a constructive political dialogue between our countries, including in order to give impetus to the process of intra-Afghan settlement," Shoigu said.

He noted that the formation of Afghanistan as a stable and independent state is in the interests of all countries in the region. To do this, he said, Moscow will continue to help Kabul integrate into regional structures and associations.

"This step will allow not only to establish an effective dialogue on the issues of countering security challenges and threats, such as terrorism, drug trafficking, but also to intensify trade and economic cooperation," the Secretary of the Russian Security Council stressed.

On Monday, Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu paid a visit to the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, where he met with the country's top leadership. Within the framework of four rounds of negotiations, he discussed economic, transport and security issues with deputy prime ministers and ministers.

Shoigu also said that over the past 12 months, the Russian Federation has provided assistance in the delivery of more than 1.2 thousand tons of humanitarian aid to Kabul through a bilateral line and as part of a contribution to the UN World Food Program fund.

"Over the past 12 months, more than 1.2 thousand tons of humanitarian aid have been delivered to Kabul through a bilateral line, as well as within the framework of the main contribution of the Russian Federation to the fund of the UN World Food Program," Shoigu said.

He clarified that humanitarian aid was delivered, among other things, by the forces of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia and the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. It includes food, basic necessities. According to Shoigu, such work will continue.
