Serbia is Going to Buy Two Million Doses of Russian Sputnik V Vaccine
OREANDA-NEWS. As reported on Twitter of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine, both the Russian Direct Investment Fund and the Serbian government itself have agreed to bring to the country 2 million doses of Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine, that is the world's first officially registered coronavirus vaccine, consisting of two components or doses.
The message adds that the vaccination of the population of Serbia against the coronavirus infection with the drug "Sputnik V" already began in the country today, January 6.
It is clarified in the official message that the first portion of the vaccine was brought to Serbia just before the New Year, on December 30, 2020. The medicine was approved without any additional clinical tests in this country, which clearly shows the high degree of trust to the Russian drug and medical sphere in general.
Russian developers of the drug note that the agreement between the Russian side and the government of Serbia will give possibility to vaccinate 1 million citizens. Sputnik V deliveries will give Serbia opportunity to choose from several coronavirus vaccines. The vaccine for deliveries to Serbia will be made by RDIF's international partners in other states - in India, China, South Korea and other countries.
According to Kirill Dmitriev, the head and official representative of the Fund, Russia and Serbia have a long history of partnership, and they find the country's government's decision to use the Russian Sputnik V vaccine to fight the coronavirus infection reasonable. The specialist clarifies that the vaccine has been made on a well-known platform of human adenoviral vectors, and that is why it is completely safe for humans.
Serbian Interior Minister Aleksandr Vulin and Speaker of Parliament Ivica Dacic decided to be vaccinated against coronavirus with the Russian vaccine on Wednesday.
