OREANDA-NEWS. Scientists have discovered that in some cases, intestinal upset and diarrhoea may be symptoms of coronavirus 2019-nCov, and the virus itself is transmitted through fecal matter. The results of the study were published on February 7 in the Journal of the American Medical Association.

The clinical analysis showed that despite the fact that in most cases coronavirus is transmitted by airborne droplets, which means that the cough of an infected person is the main threat, in some cases the infection also causes digestive tract disorders.

According to the hospital in Wuhan, a few days before the onset of fever and shortness of breath, approximately 10 % of infected people had diarrhoea and nausea.

The publication says that the spread of coronavirus through feces can create new challenges, especially in hospitals.
