OREANDA-NEWS The absolute majority of Russian car owners interviewed by the Romir research holding said that now is not the best time to buy a new car. This answer was given by 82 percent of respondents.
According to the authors of the study, in the last year and a half, the share of such car owners has consistently turned out to be more than 80 percent. At the same time, over the past six months, the share of waiting prices for new cars has increased (plus 6 percentage points in six months, to 71 percent).
During the same period, the share of car owners who noted an improvement in the range of new cars increased from 18 to 28 percent. Nevertheless, many respondents, especially those who bought a car 10 years ago or more, call the current prices too high and are in no hurry to make expensive investments, said Lyudmila Fukova, Senior Director of Customer Relations at Romira. According to her, the lack of offers in the price segment of up to two million rubles leads to the fact that many buyers "are less interested in the market of new cars, and first of all they consider used ones."
According to August statistics, 109.7 thousand new passenger cars were sold in Russia during the month, which is 2.6 times more than in the same month of 2022. However, some auto experts expect sales to decline as early as September, due to the fact that the volume of sales of cars will be affected by the impact of the new exchange rate and an increase in the recycling fee.
