OREANDA-NEWS  Russian tourists have been refused Schengen visas more often. This was announced by the vice-president of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR) Artur Muradyan, his comment is quoted by the Telegram channel "Banksta".

The expert noted that such a situation has developed due to restrictions on the number of applications under consideration and thorough checks of documents. According to him, those European states that are ready to issue visas to compatriots are experiencing "severe pressure" from the European Commission (EC).

"I have heard different figures: from 100 applications per day to 50. These are negligible figures for us," the specialist explained. Muradyan stressed that Russians' documents are being examined "under a microscope."

Meanwhile, as the Vice-president of ATOR pointed out, the tourist flow from Russia to Europe continues to grow. By the end of 2024, it will increase by 2-4 percent. The expert explained this by reducing the cost of logistics and opening new flights by European airlines.

Earlier it was reported that the Council of the European Union finally approved the accession of Bulgaria and Romania to the Schengen area. The countries will become full members of the Schengen area from the New Year — 18 years after their entry into the community.
