Russian Vice Prime Minister Told When Mass Vaccination from Coronavirus May Begin in the Country
OREANDA-NEWS. Mass vaccination of Russian citizens against coronavirus may be launched in the autumn of 2020. This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko.
According to the politician, this will happen if the vaccine against SARS-CoV-2 (a virus of a new type that causes COVID-19) is successfully tested. “Work on the vaccine is in full swing, we are waiting for the results. According to experts, in case of success in autumn we will begin mass vaccination,” Chernyshenko said at a government briefing on June 2. He added that before the vaccination begins, Russians need to “live regarding the risks posed by the infection.”
Previously, the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Denis Manturov, said that clinical trials of vaccines by the companies Biocad and Generium will begin in June. On June 2, the Defense Ministry reported about the development of the vaccine “with the participation of military experts” and volunteers.
As for the terms of vaccination, Director of the Gamaleya Federal Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology, Alexander Gintsburg suggested that it can take about nine months.
