OREANDA-NEWS Russian woman Sofya Sapega received 6 years in a penal colony in Belarus, the telegram channel «Crovavaya Barinya» writes. The verdict in the criminal case was announced by the Grodno Regional Court on Friday, May 6. The operative part of the court's decision will be announced in an open format, despite the fact that the trial itself was held in a closed format.
Recall that the Russian Sofya Sapega is accused of seven articles in Belarus. In particular, inciting social discord, violating the rules for handling personal data, threatening security forces, as well as a crime against information security. It is known that the relatives of the accused came to the Grodno Regional Court with large bags. They don't talk to the press.
Sapega was detained in Minsk together with her boyfriend, the ex-editor-in-chief of the extremist NEXTA telegram channel recognized by the Belarusian authorities, Roman Protasevich. As a result, the court sent the Russian woman under house arrest. After the blogger's detention, sanctions were imposed on Belarus.
Recall that the head of the IC confirmed the presentation of the final charges against Sapega in December last year. Later, she wrote a petition for clemency addressed to the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko.
