Russian Senator Explains Why EU Wants To Buy Sputnik V
OREANDA-NEWS. The European Union is preparing for negotiations on the procurement of the Russian drug against the coronavirus "Sputnik V", despite the "fable about the vaccine failure" as an export product. Senator Alexei Pushkov wrote about this in the Telegram channel.
He noted that idle chatter about "Russian roulette" has been discarded for several reasons. First, AstraZanaca's drugs are "in doubt," and Pfizer's vaccine is in short supply. At the same time, the head of the European Commission is "fighting off" accusations of a shortage of vaccines. In his opinion, at the moment the EU is ready to fill the shortage of vaccines in any possible way.
The second reason for the purchase of Sputnik V in the European Union is their unity, which does not pass the test of circumstances. Hungary, Slovakia and the Czech Republic, as the senator emphasized, have already made a decision to purchase the Russian drug without the sanction of Brussels. In other countries, pressure is growing in favor of independent policies on this issue. In such situations, as the politician warned, inaction of the EC may lead to the loss of control over the member states of the union and their transition to independent actions without looking back at Brussels.
"And this will inevitably lead to a drop in the authority and capacity of the governing bodies of the EU," summed up Pushkov.
