OREANDA-NEWS. The vaccine against the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 was successfully tested by employees of the N. F. Gamaleya Federal Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology of the Ministry of Health of Russia on themselves.

All of them are healthy, no side effects were found. The Director of the Center, the member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Alexander Gintsburg said in an interview with Interfax news agency that in the near future, specialists expect to begin official testing of the vaccine on volunteers. “Clinical trials of the vaccine can be completed by the end of summer,” he added.

Gintsburg did not name the number of his colleagues who had already tested the vaccine, but assured that it was a wide circle of employees: developers, organizers of preclinical studies and technologists. In this way, they protect themselves so that during a pandemic they could continue to work. Now the Gamaleya Research Center is waiting for the results of tests on primates to send a request for permission to conduct clinical trials to the Ministry of Health, the Academician informed.
