OREANDA-NEWS. Specialists of the Russian Academy of Sciences have developed three vaccines for the treatment of coronavirus infection. This was reported by Vice President of the Academy, head of the Section of Biomedical Sciences, Vladimir Chekhonin.

The first antiviral drug, Triazavirin, was created several years ago by specialists of the Postovsky Institute of Organic Synthesis. Chinese doctors are interested in this medicine, Chekhonin noted. According to the academician, the vaccine can be used to treat respiratory viral infection.

The second drug is associated with the synthesis of the antiviral Favipiravir, which was developed in Japan to treat infections caused by RNA viruses.

The third drug is Fortepren. It was created in the Gamalei National Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology in collaboration with the Institute of Organic Chemistry. The basis of the drug is phosprenyl, used to treat animals’ coronavirus.

Chekhonin mentioned that the Ministry of Health of Russia is interested in all three medicines.
