OREANDA-NEWS Against the background of a sharp weakening of the ruble, migrants began to leave Russia en masse, which negatively affected the work of a number of industries. In particular, local poultry farms were affected — the largest producer of edible eggs in the country, Sinyavinskaya, which occupies five percent of the market, estimates the labor shortage at 25-30 percent, Kommersant writes.
An acute shortage of personnel does not allow the formation of full-fledged work shifts for the production of products. Consequently, there are risks of delays in shipments and cancellation of some orders, the company has already begun to warn retailers about this. The manufacturer asks the partners to recognize the situation as force majeure and not to impose fines for postponement of deliveries or incomplete deliveries from August 1.
The Rosptitsesoyuz recognizes the problem with personnel in most industries, however, they believe that because of this, the output volumes at poultry farms will not decrease. There is a shortage of personnel in the agro-industry as a whole. Market participants also talk about the outflow of migrant workers and point to a shortage, first of all, of machine operators and separators. Albert Davleev, President of Agrifood Strategies, says that large processors now lack 10-25 percent of staff, and recently the problem with technical personnel has become very acute.
Experts call the reason for the lack of workers in production both the outflow of foreign workers due to the fall in the exchange rate of the Russian currency, and the seasonal factor, when many workers leave for their subsidiary farms and return to their jobs by autumn. Director of Analytics and data science of the service "Work.<url>" Elena Artemyeva is sure that the situation is aggravated by the growing popularity of part-time employment, as well as demographic problems.
According to the Gaidar Institute for Economic Policy, in July 2023, 42 percent of Russian enterprises experienced a shortage of employees. The situation began to deteriorate due to anti-Russian sanctions, which increased the need for import substitution, growing state defense orders and partial mobilization. The Russian authorities believe that the problem can be solved with the help of young people or prisoners.
