OREANDA-NEWS. The Ministry of Energy allows adjustment of the damper at an oil price of $ 90-100 per barrel to contain gas prices, Deputy Energy Minister of Russia Pavel Sorokin said in an interview with the Russian media.

"We are aware that the formula will work effectively in an adequate range of oil prices, but if quotations soar to $ 90-100 per barrel, then we will have to resort to other measures", he said. Such a jump in oil prices is possible only in case of force majeure, and the Ministry of Energy has mechanisms to stabilize the market in such a situation, Sorokin noted. At the same time, according to him, the agency maintains a stable forecast for the cost of oil.

The current "tax maneuver" allowed to keep the increase in prices for automotive fuel within inflation. At the same time, gas prices are growing even lower than inflation, taking into account VAT indexation, and the margin of the retail and wholesale segments in many regions exceeds the level of 2017, the official said. “Therefore, we can say that the implemented tools work”, concluded Sorokin.
