Russian Law Enforcement Agency Announced the Disclosure of a Group of Terrorists Consisting of 100 Prisoners
OREANDA-NEWS. The Investigative Committee of Russia announced the disclosure of a terrorist group, which included more than a hundred people. The group was formed from among the prisoners of one of the penal colonies in the Republic of Kalmykia and acted on its territory.
“Supporting its (Of terrorist group. – Ed.) goals and objectives, from 2013 to the present, more than one hundred convicted persons have been included in its composition on the territory of the penal colony. The colony’s leadership provided general protection to the members of the terrorist group for a monetary reward,” the Investigative Committee’s report says.
The agency notes that in the framework of the case under the article of the Criminal Code on organization of the terrorist group and participation in it, a search was conducted in the office of the First Deputy Head of the Department of the Federal Penitentiary Service in Kalmykia.
22 people are involved in the criminal case. 5 persons are detained, and the rest are already in prison. “The investigators are taking active measures to identify other participants in the crime. A legal assessment will also be given to the actions of employees of the republican department of the Federal Penitentiary Service,” the Investigative Committee says.
The authority also explained that three members of the terrorist group after leaving the colony moved to the Republic of Dagestan, where they were later killed by law enforcement officers, as they put up armed resistance during the detention.
