OREANDA-NEWS. The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs recommended that citizens traveling to the United States pay attention to the threat of possible persecution by American law enforcement agencies.

“We are compelled to state that despite our numerous calls for the normalization of cooperation on the basis of the Russian-American Treaty on Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters of 1999, US law enforcement agencies are actively continuing the arrests of Russians around the world,” a warning posted on the Ministry’s website says.

The press service of the department recommended carefully weighing the existing risks and reported that since 2008, 53 such cases have been registered on the territory of foreign states, six of which occurred in 2019. The Ministry added that citizens of Russia, faced with American justice, often deal with arbitrariness.
