OREANDA-NEWS. The deployment of Russian anti-aircraft missile systems S-400  in the Arctic is logical from a point of view of defense. This was stated by the Ambassador-at-Large of the Foreign Ministry, Nikolay Korchunov.

“This is a logical step after the creation of a continuous radar field over the territory of our country,” the diplomat said. He noted that S-400 has a defensive purpose, so its deployment in the Arctic should not cause concern if other states do not have “aggressive intentions” in relation to the area of ​​deployment of the air defense systems.

Earlier, the commander of the US Navy in Europe and Africa, Admiral James Foggo, drew attention to the expansion of Russia’s influence in the Arctic and, in particular, the deployment of military bases with complexes S-400 there.
