OREANDA-NEWS. The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has called the adviser-envoy of the United States Tim Richards, according to the Foreign Ministry website. He was given an idea in connection with publications about the uncoordinated rally on August 3, which appeared on Twitter and on the website of the Department of Consular Affairs of the State Department.
The route of movement along part of the Boulevard Ring, which the rally participants planned to follow, was attached to the messages. The department regarded this as “as an agitation in favor of participating in it and a call to action” and called it an attempt to intervene in Russia's internal affairs. The Department of Consular Affairs of the State Department warned US citizens on August 2 of holding an uncoordinated action the next day. The diplomatic mission recommended that Americans refrain from visiting the places where the demonstrators would be and attached their route to the publication.
The Federation Council on August 8 found traces of foreign interference in preparation for the elections to the Moscow City Duma, noting, in particular, the publication of American diplomats. “You might think that this is a preemptive action, but in fact it’s an agitation - the Russian text with a call to action was not deleted from the picture”, said Ilya Timokhov, representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
Prior to this, the official representative of the department, Maria Zakharova, said that in addition to the United States, the German publication Deutsche Welle tried to intervene in the country's internal affairs. According to her, her employees called on Moscow residents to take part in the illegal rally. The German television channel denied this information.
According to various sources, from the last two unauthorized rallies on July 27 and August 3, from 1074 to 1373 people and from 600 to 1001, respectively, were detained. The UK opened a criminal case under the article on the July 27 riots. During the investigation, nine people were arrested, several more were detained.
