OREANDA-NEWS  Albatros M5 reconnaissance drones have begun to arrive at units of the Russian Armed Forces. The received drones are already being used in some areas in the special operation zone (SVO), Izvestia reports, citing representatives of the Albatros developer company.

An airplane-type device with a wingspan of more than three meters is capable of being in the air for about 4.5 hours. The drone reaches speeds of up to 110 kilometers per hour, and the range of the Albatross is about 60 kilometers. A catapult is used to launch the device, and landing is carried out using a parachute.

The drone is designed for reconnaissance, fire correction and confirmation of target damage. In addition to standard cameras, the device can carry other payloads, including a gas analyzer and a multispectral camera.

The company noted that the drone contains 60 percent of its own components. In particular, specialists have developed software for it. "The radio channel is ours, which makes it possible at this stage to fly under the conditions of electronic warfare. Everything is working stably. Real-time video in Full HD quality is transmitted well. So far, the reviews are very good. They were given by paratroopers, gunners and representatives of other units," the organization said.

In March, it became known that the developer produces up to 30 Albatross M5 reconnaissance drones monthly, but if necessary, the production rate can be doubled.
