OREANDA-NEWS. The Russian Embassy in Estonia has compared the stubbornness with which the commander of the Estonian Defense Forces Martin Kherem declares the “Russian threat” with the style of statements by Unter Prishibeev from the eponymous story by Anton Chekhov.
As the embassy pointed out in a Monday commentary sent to the Delfi portal, even against the backdrop of the coronavirus pandemic that has swept almost the whole world and all the dire consequences associated with it, "the lamentation of those who in this situation seek to recall the "real threat", which in their incorrigible conviction, Russia was and remains".
“The commander of the Estonian Defense Forces, Martin Herem, acted as a new-born oracle this time”, the diplomatic mission pointed out. “You shouldn’t, apparently, quote his separate statements in the style of Chekhov Unter Prishibeev. We will single out the main thing: for Russia, the general broadcasts, war is one of ways to shape your closest neighborhood as you see fit".
Last week, Martin Herem, in an interview with the Estonian Express newspaper, said that Estonia should “practice defense” against possible Russian aggression.
