The militants of the terrorist organization Hayat Tahrir al-Sham tried to use poisonous chemicals to disrupt the advance of the Syrian government army, but they themselves were poisoned. This was stated in the message of the Russian Center for the Reconciliation of the Opposing Sides in Syria, a part of the Russian Ministry of Defense.

The incident occurred in the city of Saraqib located in the east of Idlib Governorate. On March 2, a group of 15 terrorists attempted to detonate high-explosive ammunition together with containers filled with toxic chemicals. “Due to the lack of necessary experience and skills in handling toxic chemicals, the terrorists broke the tightness of one of the containers, allowing the leak of substances next to them,” the report says. As a result, the terrorists received severe chemical poisoning, so they could not “carry out the provocation.” In the near future, the Russian Center intends to publish the evidence confirming the incident.
