OREANDA-NEWS   Last year, the Russian counter-intelligence has uncovered 129 employees and 465 agents of foreign special services, said Vladimir Putin at a meeting of the FSB Collegium.

The President noted that foreign intelligence services seek to increase activity in Russia, to influence the processes in the country. According to him, they "by all means look for access to information of political, economic, scientific, technological character".

"Therefore, the work should be effective, daily, based on modern methods. This is especially true for the protection of data on the development, testing and production of Russian advanced weapons systems, as well as advanced military and dual — use technologies," Putin said.

The head of state clarified that this field must be "rigorous and thorough".

"At the same time, this control should be smart, artificial obstacles, barriers to the use of a powerful reserve created in the defense sector in the interests of civil industries, the solution of development problems, artificial barriers do not need to be created," Putin added.

The President urged not to repeat the mistakes of the past, when many promising developments for years lay in safes because of formally executed secrecy regimes.

The meeting of the Board of the Federal security service is devoted to the results of work in 2018 and plans for the current year.
