OREANDA-NEWS  Representatives of the border guard service of the FSB of Russia have completed their service at Yerevan Zvartnots International Airport.

The protocol on the transfer to Yerevan under the protection of the state border at the Zvartnots border checkpoint was signed by the head of the border department of the FSB of the Russian Federation in Armenia, Lieutenant General Roman Golubitsky and the commander of the border troops of the National Security Service of Armenia Edgar Hunanyan.

According to Golubitsky, the task of protecting the state border has been fulfilled with dignity.

"The security of the Republic of Armenia at the air checkpoint has been ensured. Special thanks to our colleagues, the already independent border control unit at Zvartnots airport, which, I am sure, performs tasks professionally, and we all hope, both citizens of Russia, Armenia and all states, that Armenia's security will be provided at the same high level with dignity by our Armenian colleagues," Golubitsky said.

For his part, Hunanyan stated that the 32-year period of joint service of Armenian and Russian border guards at the airport is evidence of "close partnership, interaction and continuous work in ensuring border security of the two countries."

He noted that the knowledge and experience of Russian border guards will be applied by their Armenian colleagues.
