Russia Won the Indian Tender for the Supply of Air Defense
OREANDA-NEWS Russia won the Indian tender for the supply of short-range air defense in the amount of half a billion dollars, told RIA Novosti a source in the system of military-technical cooperation.
"Yes, our "IGLA" (portable anti-aircraft missile system ) won," — said the Agency interlocutor.
On the eve of the NDTV channel, citing local military sources, said that Rosoboronexport offered the most favorable conditions for the supply of short-range anti-aircraft missile systems. European companies SAAB and MBDA also participated in the tender.
Russia and India are the largest partners in military — technical cooperation: more than 70% of weapons, military equipment of the Indian army, air force, Navy - Russian and Soviet production. Every year Russia supplies India with equipment and weapons worth several billion dollars.
In October, Rosoboronexport has signed with India the contract on delivery is antiaircraft-rocket complexes С-400 in the amount of more than five billion dollars. The deal became the largest in the history of the Russian company.
At least 13 countries are interested in buying Russian air defense systems S-400, despite the threat of sanctions from the United States, CNBC reported, citing the American intelligence community.
Among the interested in buying С-400 listed more than a dozen countries, including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Morocco, Egypt, Vietnam and Iraq, the channel reports.
Anti-aircraft missile systems С-400 "Triumph" (NATO classification — SA-21 Growler) are designed for highly effective protection of the most important political, administrative, economic and military facilities from air strikes, strategic cruise, tactical and tactical ballistic missiles, as well as ballistic missiles of medium radius in combat and electronic warfare.
