OREANDA-NEWS. Russia will not take any part in the inauguration ceremony of the new Afghan government, said Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov. He added that the main question of the day now: will Afghanistan remain the main source of the drug threat, the main country from which opiates are going in huge quantities to the world and to Russia?

"All these threats persist, of course, we are not all the winners," said Dmitry Peskov.

When asked by Peskov if Russia is ready to fight international terrorism, the press secretary of the head of the Russian state replied that Russia is constantly fighting international terrorism.

A high-level meeting on humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan is scheduled for September 13 in Geneva. Moscow will take part in it at the level of Permanent Representative to the Geneva office of the United Nations. German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas will leave for the meeting from Berlin.

After the start of the withdrawal of American troops from Afghanistan, the Taliban intensified their offensive. On August 15, representatives of a movement recognized as terrorist in Russia occupied Kabul without a fight. The Taliban also said they have taken control of the last of Afghanistan's 34 provinces, Pajshir.
