OREANDA-NEWS The approved preliminary design of the superheavy class space rocket complex (KRK STK) will be finalized at the technical design stage, taking into account modern technologies. This is reported by TASS with reference to the state corporation Roscosmos.
"Due to the fact that it became necessary to introduce innovative solutions, including new materials and engines, during the development of a superheavy—class rocket, it was decided to finalize the previously approved draft design at the technical design stage," the state corporation said.
They added that a decision had been made on the possible creation of reusable side stages for a superheavy rocket.
Earlier, Oleg Gorshkov, advisor to the Director General of Roscosmos, said at the Congress of Young Scientists in Sirius that the flights of Russian cosmonauts to the Moon were postponed due to lack of funds to create a superheavy rocket.
In May, Dmitry Baranov, CEO of the Progress Rocket and Space Center, said that it was planned to create a Russian superheavy rocket based on the promising medium-heavy carrier Soyuz-5.
In April, Denis Manturov, the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia, said that flight tests of the new carrier as part of the creation of a superheavy-class space rocket complex at the Vostochny cosmodrome are scheduled to begin in 2033.
