Russia Signed a Contract with Egypt for the Supply of SU-35
OREANDA-NEWS Russia has signed a contract with Egypt for the supply of several dozen su-35-heavy multi-functional fighter generation 4++.
Media did not specify exactly how many fighters will go to Egypt under the contract, limiting the wording "more than two dozen machines" and means of air destruction to them in the amount of about $2 billion the agreement itself, the publication indicates, entered into force at the end of 2018, the deliveries themselves will begin in 2020-2021.
The cost of the contract sources of publications also refused to call. According to them, such cooperation with Egypt "guarantees the capacity utilization of the machine manufacturer — Komsomolsk-on-Amur aviation plant — for several years to come."
The Federal service for military-technical cooperation and RosOboronExport, an exporter of Russian arms, declined to comment.
Egypt is one of the largest importers of Russian weapons. At the end of 2017, he ranked first among other African countries with a volume of purchases of $6.2 billion. Cairo actively engaged in its own rearmament after coming to power during the coup in 2013, Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, who replaced Mohammed Mursi. Thus, Egypt already receives from Russia various air defense systems, artillery, small arms, MiG-29M/M2 fighters and ka-52 combat helicopters.
Russian su-35 already interested in China and Indonesia. In 2015, Moscow signed a contract for the supply of fighters with Beijing, in 2018-m contacted on this occasion and with Indonesia (nevertheless, in Jakarta later noted that they will be forced to break the contract if the US imposes sanctions). The deal to buy Russia's su-35 the United States has imposed sanctions against China.
