Russia's gold reserves have reached a record high

In September, Russia increased its gold reserves by 2%, or 44 tons, to 2.36 thousand tons, which was the highest level in its entire modern history. As a result, it continues to remain in fifth position among the countries with the largest gold reserves.
At the same time, due to the sharp decline in gold prices at the end of September, investments in this precious metal fell by 3% to $ 140.5 billion.
The absolute record holders for this indicator are the USA with 8.1 thousand tons of gold. The second place is occupied by Germany with an indicator of 3.35 thousand tons. Italy closes the top three with 2.45 thousand tons. France is in fourth place with an indicator of 2.4 thousand tons.
The top ten countries with the largest gold reserves also include China (2.2 thousand tons), Switzerland (1 thousand tons), Japan (846 tons), India (801 tons) and Turkey (675 tons).
