OREANDA-NEWS  Reports of a call by President—elect Donald Trump to Russian leader Vladimir Putin are a good signal, according to Alexei Chepa, first Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs. He shared his opinion with Lenta.ru".

Earlier, The Washington Post reported that Trump called Putin on Thursday, November 7, and urged him not to escalate the situation in Ukraine. He also expressed interest in further negotiations to discuss "a speedy resolution of the war in Ukraine."

If there was such a call, it means that the future Washington administration is ready for negotiations. This is a very important signal for us and for the world as a whole. Without waiting for the inauguration, Trump actively began to assess the situation in foreign policy. He spoke with both Putin and [Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu, and obviously he will not wait for the inauguration, but will act faster

"But at the same time, look, when Trump calls Putin, Washington is actively discussing the issue of another $ 6 billion supply of weapons, and voices are heard in Europe calling on [US President Joe] Biden to allow strikes deep into Russia. That is, you see what kind of confrontation is going on, including in America and in the world," the deputy noted.

Earlier it became known that French President Emmanuel Macron and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer may try to convince Biden to lift the ban on Storm Shadow missile strikes deep into Russia before the end of the American politician's presidential term.
