OREANDA-NEWS. In the boards of directors of Russian companies, according to data for 2018, 8.5% are women. This is evidenced by the study by Deloitte "Woman on the Board of Directors: a view from the outside". With this result, Russia ranks 39th in this ranking among 49 countries, between Brazil and the Cayman Islands. The three leaders in the ranking are Norway (41%), France (37.2) and Sweden (33.3%).
The share of women on the boards of directors of Russian companies has grown over two years: in 2016 they were 5.8%, and Russia ranked 40th out of 44 in the ranking. According to recent results, the percentage of women chairing boards of directors has also increased in the country (from 3.3% in 2016 to 8.8%).
The study notes that in Russia there are no quotas for women in the management of companies, but the need to increase their number is discussed in the business community. Since 2016, in several countries (Germany, South Africa, Finland and Malaysia) the number of women on the board of directors has grown by more than 6%. In others, the same indicator is still low - 0.6% in Qatar and 0.7% in Saudi Arabia. The indicator for two years decreased by 3% in Luxembourg and by 3.6% in Greece.
