Russia May Offer Switzerland and Hong Kong to Change Tax Agreements
OREANDA-NEWS. In the nearest future, Russia may offer Switzerland and Hong Kong to revise agreements on the avoidance of double taxation. Previously, Cyprus, the Netherlands, Malta and Luxembourg received similar proposals.
This was reported by Deputy Prime Minister Aleksey Overchuk at a meeting of the President with members of the Russian government. “We are conducting a careful analysis of all agreements on the avoidance of double taxation that the Russian Federation has with foreign partners. Now we are carefully looking at Switzerland and Hong Kong from the point of view of addressing them with a similar proposal,” Overchuk said.
Russian President Vladimir Putin noted that Moscow has the right to unilaterally break agreements if it fails to agree with the other side. “With the rest of the partners, this work should be continued… And if we encounter a misunderstanding of our position, then we reserve the right to terminate these agreements unilaterally,” head of state explained.
