OREANDA-NEWS. Russian State Duma Deputy Ivan Sukharev made a proposal to re-suspend flights with all countries amid the detection of a new strain of coronavirus infection in the UK.

According to RT, in order to prevent the spread of the new strain on the territory of Russia, Sukharev asked Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin to consider the possibility of temporarily closing flights with all foreign countries. The deputy explained in a comment to the "360" TV channel that in the current situation with COVID-19, the lives of Russians cannot be risked.

Earlier, more than 20 countries stopped air traffic with the UK due to the detected new strain of coronavirus, which, according to experts, is 70% more infectious than the previous strain. In this regard, severe restrictions were introduced in a number of regions of the country.

The same mutation of the coronavirus was later identified in other countries of the world: in Denmark, the Netherlands, South Africa. British scientists explained that this type of coronavirus infection is spreading several times faster.

Against the background of the threat of the spread of new mutations of the coronavirus infection, Russian experts noted that vaccines created in Russia are likely to be able to resist a new type of infection.
