OREANDA-NEWS The Ministry of Agriculture and Rosrybolovstvo are preparing support measures for the growth of aquaculture production in Russia, in the long term it is planned to grow 1.5 times - up to 600 thousand tons, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

"Over the past ten years, the volume of commercial aquaculture production has doubled, last year the figure reached 402 thousand tons. We are aiming for 600 thousand tons in the long term... But we see that support measures are needed. This issue is currently being worked out by Rosrybolovstvo and the Ministry of Agriculture," Patrushev said.

He added that in the first half of 2024, about 210 thousand tons of aquaculture were produced, the second half of the year is traditionally more "productive". "So we will draw conclusions based on the results of the year," the Deputy Prime Minister said.

"We have sufficient wild fish catch, ecology and rational use, including water resources, are priorities," he concluded.
