OREANDA-NEWS  Deputy Prime Minister and Presidential Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District Yuri Trutnev, after visiting Shumshu Island, where it is planned to create a museum dedicated to the Kuril landing operation, said that Russia always invites representatives of all countries of the world, including Japan, to interact on the Kuril Islands, and remains open for cooperation.

According to the press service of the plenipotentiary mission, Trutnev and the first deputy head of the presidential administration of the Russian Federation Sergey Kiriyenko visited the Kuril island of Shumsha and prepared proposals for the creation of a museum dedicated to the Kuril landing operation on this island, they will report their developments to the head of state Vladimir Putin, in particular, by the summer of 2025 they propose to open a military-patriotic camp and conduct excavations on the battlefields.

"I think the Japanese, as the side that lost in World War II, will have a different attitude towards the museum on Shumshu Island. For my part, I can only say that all this time we have been inviting representatives of all countries of the world to cooperate in the Far East and the Kuril Islands, and we always offer Japan to do so. And we are still open for cooperation," said Trutnev, whose words are quoted in the press service of the mission.

Shumshu Island is the first in the Kuril Ridge from the north and the closest to Kamchatka, from where all transport logistics are carried out there. Currently, you can get to Shumsha privately by sea or by helicopter from Kamchatka. There is no regular passenger service to the island.
