OREANDA-NEWS  Russia is increasing its own technologies and production to decarbonize industry, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said.

"In Russia, eighty-five percent of the energy balance is accounted for by "clean", low-emission generation. This is primarily gas and nuclear energy, from renewable sources. We are building up our own technologies and production capacities to decarbonize industries," Mishustin said during a speech at the UN climate Conference.

The head of the Russian Cabinet added that Russia is actively using natural opportunities, reminding the conference participants that a fifth of global forest resources are located in the Russian Federation.

"The volume of uptake exceeds one billion tons of carbon dioxide equivalent per year," Mishustin stressed.
