Russia Intends to Ban Cotton Swabs and Plastic Dishes Legally
The use of colored plastic, plastic tubes, dishes and cotton swabs is planned to be banned at the legislative level.
The Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Victoria Abramchenko said that The government is preparing appropriate amendments. "We are preparing amendments to the legislation which would prohibit the use of non-recyclable and hard-to-recover materials. Such as colored plastic, plastic tubes, cotton swabs and disposable plastic dishes ". That is what she said at the IX Nevsky International Environmental Forum.
In addition, according to Abramchenko, it is planned to involve in circulation up to 50% of secondary raw materials from waste in construction, agriculture and industry. As a result, the volume of burials will be halved by 2030, as the Deputy Prime Minister expects.
Earlier, the head of the Russian Ministry of Natural Resources, Alexander Kozlov, said that the ministry was preparing a complete list of plastic goods and packaging that could not be recycled in order to further envisage the possibility of banning their production.
