Russia Held Over 20 Million Tests for COVID-19

OREANDA-NEWS. Over 20.1 million tests for COVID-19, a disease caused by the novel coronavirus, have been held in Russia, the press service of the Russian Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing informed on July 2.
«Over 20.1 mln tests for the coronavirus have been held in the Russian Federation,» the message informs. In the past 24 hours, 316 thousand tests have been held.
According to the Russian Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing, 286 thousand people are currently under supervision on suspicion of having contracted the disease.
As for July 2, 661 165 coronavirus cases officially reported in Russia. 9 683 people have died, and 428 978 people succesfully recovered from the disease.
In late December 2019, Chinese officials notified the World Health Organization about the outbreak of a previously unknown pneumonia in the city of Wuhan, in central China. Since then, cases of the novel coronavirus — named COVID-19 by the WHO — have been reported in every corner of the globe, including Russia. On March 11, 2020, the World Health Organization declared the coronavirus outbreak a pandemic.
