OREANDA-NEWS Russian farmers have harvested a record harvest of rice. A message about this appeared on the website of the Ministry of Agriculture.

According to the ministry, the volume of rice harvested in 2024 amounted to 1.2 million tons, which is 17 percent more than in the previous year.

"By 2030, it is planned to reach the figures of up to 2 million tons, which will not only fully meet domestic needs, but also create a good export potential," the report says.

It is noted that good harvest rates have made it possible to keep wholesale rice prices at the level of two years ago. Today, most of the rice, the ministry stressed, is grown in the Krasnodar Territory — 829 thousand tons.

Earlier it became known that by the end of 2024, the total harvest of grain and leguminous crops in Russia decreased to 124.96 million tons, which is 13 percent less than the result of last year — 144.96 million tons.
