OREANDA-NEWS US President Donald Trump said on the Truth Social network that he is negotiating with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin on ending the conflict in Ukraine and on major bilateral economic projects.
"I am in serious talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin regarding the end of the war, as well as major economic development deals to be concluded between the United States and Russia," he wrote.
At the same time, he stressed that the negotiations were going "very well," and once again repeated the thesis that the confrontation in Ukraine would never have begun if he had remained the head of the White House.
The first high-level Russian-American talks in many years took place on February 18 in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia. On the Russian side, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Presidential Aide Yuri Ushakov participated in the discussion. Washington was represented by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Assistant to the President for National Security Michael Waltz and Special Envoy for the Middle East Steven Witkoff.
The parties agreed to create conditions for the full resumption of bilateral cooperation, eliminate restrictions on the work of embassies and launch the process of resolving the situation in Ukraine. President Vladimir Putin highly appreciated this meeting, noting that there was a result.
