Russia and Kyrgyzstan Will Discuss Areas of Bilateral Cooperation
OREANDA-NEWS On March 27-28, 2019, the eighth Russian-Kyrgyz interregional conference "New horizons of strategic partnership and integration" will be held in Bishkek (Kyrgyz Republic). The event will be the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia and the Ministry of Economy of Kyrgyzstan with the support of the Fund Recongress.
Participants of the conference will be Maxim Oreshkin, Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, Sergey Cheryomin, Minister of the Government of Moscow, Head of the Department of Foreign Economic and International Relations, and Mukhammetkaly Abylgaziev, Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic.
As noted by the adviser to the President of Russia Anton Kobyakov, Kyrgyzstan has an important place in the foreign economic policy of the Russian Federation.
"This country is our long-standing partner, including within the import-export line. We see stable growth in many indicators. I am convinced that the meetings in the format of the interregional conference will allow us to maintain dialogue and our partnership at the same high level," Kobyakov said.
According to The Russian Export Center, trade between the two countries increased by 17 percent in 2018. The volume of mutual trade reached almost 1.9 billion dollars.
The conference will include a plenary session and round tables. The participants of the event will discuss the issues of digitalization of the transport sector, the development of interregional industrial cooperation, the creation of joint industrial complexes, the development of the system of interregional cargo transportation and others. The conference program also includes a seminar "Promotion of products to the Russian and Kyrgyz markets", presentations of investment projects and the signing of bilateral contracts and memorandums.
In addition, the Moscow delegation led by Sergey Cheremin will meet with the mayor of Bishkek city by Surakmatov Aziz Amirbekovich. The parties will discuss the investment and economic potential of the two capitals and the possibility of holding joint economic and cultural events in the second half of 2019.
