OREANDA-NEWS The risks of importation and spread of monkey pox in Russia are minimal, only two imported cases have been detected in the country all the time, patients have recovered, the press service of Rospotrebnadzor reported.

The World Health Organization (WHO) previously canceled the health emergency regime introduced in August 2022 in connection with the outbreak of smallpox monkeys.

"To date, the risks of importation and spread of smallpox of monkeys in the territory of the Russian Federation are minimal," the report says. Only two imported cases of monkey pox were recorded in Russia, patients were discharged after full recovery, the press service said. Thanks to anti-epidemic measures, it was possible to prevent the spread of the disease in the country, the department noted.

Scientific institutions of Rospotrebnadzor provided the possibility of prompt diagnosis of all cases of the disease, reagent kits were produced in sufficient quantities to determine this virus, Rospotrebnadzor stressed.
