OREANDA-NEWS Roskomnadzor denied the lifting of restrictions on the Discord messenger in Russia. This was reported to TASS by the press service of the regulator.

"Access to the Discord messenger is limited in the territory of the Russian Federation. There are no grounds for unblocking the service," the ministry said in a statement. Roskomnadzor also urged the media and bloggers not to spread false data.

On October 10, information spread online that Discord could be unblocked in Russia. It was claimed that some users opened the main page of the service.

Access to Discord was restricted in Russia on October 8 due to violation of the requirements of Russian legislation. Roskomnadzor clarified that the laws violated by the service are related to preventing the platform from being used for terrorist and extremist purposes or from posting prohibited information on it.

The department reported that many demands were sent to Discord to delete illegal information, but the platform did not comply with them. Also, Roskomnadzor recalled, in 2023 the company was fined six million rubles for not deleting such content, but the messenger ignored the court decision.
