Roscosmos revealed the level of losses after the West refused to cooperate

OREANDA-NEWS Western sanctions imposed after the outbreak of hostilities in Ukraine and the refusal of unfriendly states to cooperate cost Roscosmos 180 billion rubles. Such figures were revealed by the head of the state corporation Yuri Borisov in an interview with Rossiya 24 TV channel, Kommersant reports.
Until 2022, total exports were estimated at 230 billion rubles, so the share of countries lost to contracts now was about 80 percent. It was about the supply of engines and launch services.
According to Borisov, the final results of the company's work for the current year have not yet been summed up, but Roscosmos hopes that within two to three years they will be able to break even. In 2022, losses reached 17.3 billion rubles. Among the positive trends, Borisov noted an increase in the consolidated revenue of the industry by 24 billion rubles compared to last year.
At the end of October, at a meeting on the development of the space industry, Russian President Vladimir Putin demanded an increase in salaries in the space industry so that specialists would not leave there, as well as radically reduce the cost of delivering spacecraft to near-Earth orbit.
Separately, the head of state called for making large-scale projects payback so that private business actively invests in the industry and it is less dependent on government support. To train specialists, the President instructed to increase educational activities, expand the school satellite program, launch its analogues in colleges and universities, and organize annual competitions in the field of innovations in the space field.
