OREANDA-NEWS  The Roscosmos State Corporation has agreed on the expected completion dates for the International Space Station (ISS) with NASA. This was announced by the head of Roscosmos, Yuri Borisov, during an interview with the Rossiya-24 television channel.

In order to ensure smooth continuity in the manned space program, we have coordinated the estimated completion dates for the ISS with our American partners, Borisov said. He also noted that Russia would begin manned missions to the new Russian orbital station (ROS) around the time it withdraws from the ISS project.

According to Borisov, the first module for the ROS, a scientific and experimental module, will be launched in 2027. Then, the gateway and docking modules will follow, and the base module will be completed at the turn of 2032 and 2033. The head of Roscosmos emphasized that manned flights will begin in 2028.

In April 2023, member countries of the International Space Station (ISS) supported the extension of its operation beyond 2024. Russia has pledged to support the continued use of the station until 2028.

Early in December, the head of Roscosmos, the Russian state corporation, said that they plan to contact the Trump administration regarding the ISS. The final decision on the future of the station is still uncertain, and will likely be clarified with the arrival of a new NASA administration, according to Borisov. He added that the preliminary plan for the ISS's shutdown is set for 2030.
