OREANDA-NEWS The UK's sanctions against Rosatom and related companies threaten global nuclear security. This was stated in the state corporation.
Rosatom considered such a step by the British authorities unprecedented. "Until now, even in the years of complete lack of political understanding, the nuclear industry, taking into account its long production cycle and special approaches in the field of nuclear safety, has remained outside the political conjuncture, but exclusively in the field of international cooperation and development," the company noted.
Rosatom warned that the sanctions would negatively affect cooperation in the field of peaceful nuclear energy, but promised to continue fulfilling contracts with foreign partners for as long as possible.
Earlier on February 24, the UK expanded sanctions against Russia to include 92 individuals and legal entities. Dozens of Russians connected with Rosatom, Gazprom, Rostec and Almaz-Antey state corporations have been sanctioned. In addition, the restrictions affected the Governor of the Tula region Alexey Dyumin, the son of the ex-deputy chairman of the government Dmitry Kozak Alexey, the Minister of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Communications Maksut Shadaev and other public figures.
