Representative of Russian Foreign Ministry Zakharova Expressed Support for New Prime Minister of Libya
OREANDA-NEWS The choice of Libyan parliamentarians, who approved the well-known Libyan politician, former Interior Minister in the former Government of National Accord of Libya Fafti Bashaga as the new prime minister of the country, should be respected. This was announced on February 14 by the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Maria Zakharova.
"The main thing is that the existing contradictions between Libyans do not lead to a serious conflict, but are resolved through negotiations and compromises," the Russian diplomat noted.
Zakharova added that the Russian side is closely monitoring the development of the internal political situation in Libya.
Earlier it became known that the House of Representatives (Parliament) Libya has elected a new head of government, who will lead the country until the presidential elections.
According to journalists, the post of prime Minister was taken by former Interior Minister Fathi Bashaga. 45 deputies voted for him. Immediately after his election, Bashaga went to Tripoli to take up a new position.
According to Bashagi, the future government will represent everyone, "carry out its activities for all Libyans without exception" and treat the House of Representatives and the Supreme State Council of the country "with great respect".
"We will cooperate with all countries of the world on the basis of mutual respect. We thank UNSMIL (the UN Special Mission to Support Libya) for its efforts and hope for positive cooperation and joint work," Fathi Bachaga said.
Earlier, the official representative of the UN Secretary General Stephane Dujarric and a number of Western countries announced their support for Dabaiba as the head of the GNA of Libya.
