OREANDA-NEWS In 2023-2024, a record 34 million violations were detected in the Svetofor store chain. This was stated by the operator of the Honest Sign labeling system, the Center for the Development of Advanced Technologies (CRPT), as quoted by Kommersant.
Most of the violations are related to cash transactions (23.2 million cases) and forgery of labeling codes (4.3 million). In addition, analysts reported 2.2 million sales of expired products, mainly milk and beer.
In the network itself, where a record number of violations were found, they claim that they do not accept goods for sale that have less than two-thirds of their shelf life left. However, since the beginning of 2025, the Rosselkhoznadzor has already issued warnings to 64 stores in the chain.
Violation of labeling and sale of overdue goods is punishable by fines of up to 1.5 million rubles, for the sale of low—quality goods - by a fine of up to 40 thousand rubles, expired products — up to 600 thousand rubles. Such sanctions are insignificant for a large retailer, Kommersant notes.
As previously reported, more than half (65 percent) of the products in the Mayak and Svetofor stores are sold with violations. As a result of a large-scale raid on the networks, problems with documents for meat and dairy products were discovered, which made it impossible to track supplies to stores. 658 kilograms of unsafe products were withdrawn from sale, some of which were expired.
