OREANDA-NEWS In 2024, there is an increase in trade turnover between Russia and Iran, Russian President Vladimir Putin noted at a meeting with his Iranian counterpart Masoud Peseshkian. This is reported by TASS.

According to Putin, this is a good trend, although the current upturn in trade between the two countries "has not played back a certain drop last year."

The decrease in trade turnover in 2023, which was indicated by the head of state, occurred against the background of its rise to record levels, which occurred in 2022. Then, by the end of October, the volume of Russian-Iranian trade exceeded the previous one, which also reached historical highs.

At the same time, in the first quarter of 2024, the countries increased the volume of bilateral trade by almost one and a half times by January-March 2023 (by 48 percent), the government of the Russian Federation noted.
