OREANDA-NEWS Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a law that raises the age of stay in the reserve of citizens with military ranks below officers by five years. The document is published on the official portal of legal information.
The law will affect Russians who have the ranks of soldiers, sailors, sergeants, foremen, ensigns and midshipmen. The age limit for such conscripts belonging to the first category increases from 35 to 40 years, to the second category - from 45 to 50 years, to the third - from 50 to 55 years. The category depends on age, rank and gender. Now the term of stay in reserve for such citizens is close to the officer's (for them it ranges from 50 to 70 years).
The age limit for reservists in the mobilization reserve is also increasing. Now, for citizens with military ranks of senior officers, it will be 65 years (previously, in most cases, it was 60 years), for junior officers with military ranks - 60 years (previously - 55 years), and for those with other ranks - 55 years (previously - 45 years). However, the maximum age of stay in the mobilization reserve for reserve citizens with military ranks of senior officers remains at the level of 70 years.
At the same time, the document provides for a transitional period until January 1, 2028, so that citizens who are in reserve are gradually transferred to retirement. Thus, citizens who turn 50 in 2024 will remain in reserve until 51, those who turn 50 in 2025 - up to 52 years. Accordingly, citizens who have reached the age of 50 in 2026 will remain in reserve until 53 years, and in 2027 - up to 54 years. From January 1, 2028, all citizens with military ranks of soldiers, sailors, sergeants, petty officers, ensigns and midshipmen will remain in reserve (respectively, in the mobilization human reserve) for up to 55 years. At the same time, it is clarified that citizens aged 50 to 54 years, transferred by military commissars to retirement before January 1, 2024, are not subject to enrollment in the reserve. However, such citizens may, at will, submit applications to the military commissariat for continuing to stay in the reserve until the new age limit for staying in it is reached. In this case, the military commissar can enroll them in the reserve.
