OREANDA-NEWS Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a law banning foreign agents from advertising individuals and legal entities.
The relevant document was published on Monday on the official Internet portal of legal information.
The law amends Article 11 of the Federal Law "On Control over the activities of persons under foreign Influence", fixing in it the norms on compliance by a foreign agent with the restrictions and prohibitions provided for by the Federal Law "On Advertising".
Accordingly, amendments have been made to Articles 5 and 7 of the Federal Law "On Advertising", according to which the distribution of advertising on information resources of foreign agents, as well as advertising of information resources of foreign agents, will be prohibited.
Earlier, Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin reported that the proposed amendments to the federal law "On Advertising" relate to any platforms - websites, blogs, social networks.
The head of the State Duma Committee on Security, Vasily Piskarev, previously explained what responsibility is provided for violating restrictions on advertising on the resources of foreign agents.
"The measures of responsibility are already prescribed in the current laws. For non-compliance with the restrictions established by the legislation on foreign agents (and among them we propose to prescribe a ban on advertising), a fine of up to 50 thousand rubles is provided for citizens, and up to 500 thousand rubles for legal entities. This is provided for by the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation," Piskarev wrote in his telegram channel.
He recalled that a violation of the procedure for the activities of a foreign agent or a Russian legal entity established by him, a foreign agent, committed after twice bringing him to administrative responsibility within one year, will be punished already in accordance with the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation - the punishment can be up to two years in prison.
