OREANDA-NEWS  Despite the increase in income, there is no extra money in the Russian budget. This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin during a meeting with the head of the Accounts Chamber Boris Kovalchuk, as quoted by TASS.

The Head of State noted an increase in both oil and gas and non-oil and gas revenues, as well as a minimal budget deficit. At the same time, the president called on the Accounting Chamber to closely monitor financial discipline and not to miss "anything that is called crime."

Putin also asked Kovalchuk to contact him directly in urgent situations. "Pick up the phone without any hesitation and call me," he said. In response, the head of the department thanked the president for this opportunity.

On July 23, Kovalchuk presented his first report as head of the Accounting Chamber, he has held this position since May 14. He informed the head of state that in 2023, according to the results of inspections, the department managed to return more than 26 billion rubles to the budget.

Earlier, experts from the Accounting Chamber said that the Russian Ministry of Finance should improve the quality of its forecasts regarding federal budget revenues. According to the auditors, due to the weak predictability of the ongoing changes, unforeseen revenues are being discovered. For example, during the implementation of the budget law in 2023, unaccounted-for fees and taxes appeared.
