OREANDA-NEWS  Russian President Vladimir Putin presented North Korean leader Kim Jong Un with luxurious gifts. In turn, the leader of the DPRK also prepared presents for Putin.

According to Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov, the Korean leader was presented with a new car of the Russian brand Aurus ("Aurus"), an admiral's dirk and a tea set. At the same time, Putin received several works of art in response.

The donated Aurus will be the second in Kim Jong-un's collection. He received the first one as a gift from Putin in February. Putin's press secretary Dmitry Peskov said that the North Korean leader liked the Russian car. Kim Jong-un's sister said the gesture was a clear indication of the special friendly relations established between the leaders of the two countries.

Bloomberg drew attention to the fact that Putin violated the UN resolution by giving such a gift to Kim Jong-un. Deliveries of expensive cars to the DPRK are prohibited by international UN sanctions, but the North Korean leader has repeatedly appeared in public in armored limousines of luxury brands like Mercedes-Maybach S600 Guard. On one of the "Maybahs", Kim also came to negotiate with Putin at the Vostochny cosmodrome in 2023.

Then the Russian president arrived in an Aurus car, which he showed to the North Korean leader. Kim Jong-un first studied the car from the outside, and then got into the passenger seat. After that, Putin took him to an Aurus car of a different model so that the leader of the DPRK could get acquainted with both a sedan and a limousine of this brand.

Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov said that Putin also received "good gifts" from the North Korean leader. He did not disclose details, but noted that the presents "are associated with the image of our president." "There are several variants of images, all of them quite artistic, including busts," Ushakov explained.
